The icing on the cake

readingtogirls

As we were preparing my birthday dinner last night, UPS dropped an unexpected delivery – the first copies of my new book The Fiesta Dress. What a great birthday surprise!

I reviewed the first sketches for the book in October 2007, while I was in the hospital having my transplant. It has been so encourging to watch this book work its way through the publishing process as I have recovered.

So here are my shameless self-promotional requests:

  • Go buy the book. (It’s available for pre-order now at online bookstores and releases at retail bookstores March 1.)
  • Buy copies for all the kids you know
  • Tell other people to buy copies
  • Talk about it on Facebook and your blogs
  • Write online reviews
  • Invite me to read the book at your school/library/local bookstore

  1. How great to finally have it in your hands! It looks even better than in the email photos, and so…tangible! I can’t wait to get mine!

Congratulations on yet another great event!

    Love,
    Kris

  2. Wow, Caren – congratulations! I put it in my cart on Amazon and will tell some friends – so very cool. And…your hair looks so great in the photo!!! :-)

  8. Wow! It looks great! I can’t wait to read it to my class! They have heard all about it. They think I am really cool because I know a real author! Donna

  9. Congratulations Caren! I just ordered my copy from Amazon and they said it will arrive Feb. 6th. Can’t wait to read it. It looks wonderful from the look inside samples. I looked for a Facebook group or account for the book so I could join and/or become a fan of it (one way to help spread the word) but I didn’t see any matches to my search for the book’s title. If I’m missing something perhaps you can post some information about this in a follow-up post. I’ll write a review of the book on Facebook and my blog after I’ve had a chance to read it.

  10. Hi Caren! After seeing Kristin’s beautiful pictures of Mexico and the sweet photos of you, Kristin, Alexis & Laura, I decided to find your blog and read about you–I guess that makes me a stalker:). I knew you had been sick but that was about it. All I can say now is…WOW!! Your journey over the last 2 years has been truly amazing and inspiring. I am so proud of you and your family. What a testimony of faith! I am so excited about your book! I know of a few girls in my 5 year old’s preschool class who will be getting them for birthday presents this year!
I will pray for your continued recovery, hoping for the best as you wait for new milestones. Blessings to you, Jon & your beautiful girls! Kelly (Damron) Beasley

  11. I ordered my copy from amazon yesterday. Looks lovely! I can’t wait to read it to the girls.
